Intercity STC deploys more buses for commuters during Xmas
The Intercity State Transport Company (STC) has introduced a night service for passengers who may want to transact their businesses in neighbouring countries and return during the Xmas holidays.

Passengers can now travel from Accra to Abidjan and back to Ghana the next day without difficulty.
For a start, one shuttle bus has been deployed for this duty, while some coaches would also be on standby for the same purpose.
This is to help complement the services that the state transport operator already provides.
This was disclosed in an interview with the Daily Graphic in Accra yesterday to ascertain the level of preparedness of the state transporter during the Yuletide.
Currently, the Intercity STC operates on the following routes: Accra to Abidjan, Accra to Ouagadougou, Cotonou to Abidjan, Lome to Abidjan and Accra to Cotonou with its coaster, shuttle and coaches.
Full security provided
According to the Managing Director, Mr Samuel Nuamah Donkor, the company had the intention of extending the services to other neighbouring countries in the coming years.
To ensure that the lives of its clients are fully protected, he stated the STC had its buses provided with police escorts “so that passengers can have peace of mind and comfort as they travel.
“We have also dedicated some coaches that would complement the shuttle buses so that in the event that the passengers exceed the total intake, the rest will also be served adequately.
Meanwhile, Mr Donkor said the usual operations of the company remained intact, as additional measures had been put in place to make them more attractive.
Future projections
In the not-too-distant future, Mr Donkor said the company would add more services and expand its operations to Akim Oda and other parts of the country.
At the moment, 17 buses, three coasters, six super-proof and other alliances are on the roads plying both domestic and international routes.
As part of the innovations, he said, services such as wifi would be secured on the various buses early next year to help with internet connectivity.
“We want our clients to feel more comfortable whenever they patronise our services, so we are prepared to give the best of quality to them.
“As a state transport operator, we have always ensured that we are pacesetters in the industry, and would continue to be innovative to remain competitive and serve our customers better,” he stressed.
Assurance to passengers
The Managing Director assured all patrons that the company had put in place the necessary arrangements such that its services would meet their expectations during the Yuletide.
Even though he did not state that new buses had been deployed to complement the already existing ones, he noted that adequate measures had been put in place to serve clients better.
He was, however, quick to add that new buses would be deployed by the beginning of next year.
Christmas message
Mr Donkor also used the opportunity to wish STC’s workers, numerous patrons and all stakeholders a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
He particularly commended customers for their loyalty, dedication and continuous patronage.

He praised the employees for their dedication and support, “and remaining with the company all this while even in the hard times”.
While acknowledging that people were in a joyous mood, Mr Donkor advised the general public to stay focused and live healthy lives and enter the new year with vim.
