The Ministry of the Interior has ordered an investigation into claims that the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, survived two attempts on his life while carrying out his work.
The Ministry announced the decision in a statement issued in Accra on Monday, December 8, 2025.
The move followed comments by the Director of Strategy, Research and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, Mr Samuel Appiah Darko.
He made the claims on Joy News's analysis programme, Newsfile on Saturday on December 6, 2025.
He also said on the programme that he had been handcuffed and beaten by seventeen police officers.
According to the Ministry, initial contacts with Mr Agyebeng showed that the incidents he referred to took place before 2025.
The Ministry added that there is no record of any report on threats to his life at any police station or at any state security agency.
The Ministry said it is treating the matter with seriousness because of the security issues that come with such claims and the possible effect on ongoing anti-corruption work.
The statement said such dangers, if confirmed, could weaken the efforts of state bodies responsible for accountability.
The Interior Minister has asked for an investigation into the alleged attempts on Mr Agyebeng’s life and the claim by Mr Appiah Darko that he was assaulted by police officers.
The Ministry said crime does not expire and the allegations would be examined in full.
It said the public would be informed of the outcome and any steps that follow.
The Ministry said it will protect lives and properties so Ghanaians can go about their lawful activities without fear.
