Man in possession of military accoutrement remanded
A traditional priest charged with possession of firearms and military accoutrement without lawful authority was last Friday remanded in custody by an Accra Circuit Court.

The accused, Bernard Ayi Amegavi, who appeared before the court without a counsel, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
He is to reappear before the court, presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh, on March 18, 2016.
Facts
The facts of the case are that on February 29, 2016, Amegavi was reported to the Mamprobi Police by the National President of the Ghana Psychic and Traditional Healers Association for parading himself as a member of the association and a licensed traditional healer.
According to the prosecution, Amegavi was, therefore, invited by the police for questioning.
While at the police station, however, the police was alerted that Amegavi had in his possession guns and he had also been walking about in military uniforms.
It said a search in the room of the accused revealed a pump action gun and a pistol.
During another search in the room of the accused on March 1, 2016, the police also uncovered a set of military uniforms, with the accused’s name tags on them and two sets of military boots, the prosecution said.

It added that Amegavi could not provide any documents to confirm his ownership of the guns.
