Nkwanta South: Man shot dead at Keri, police launch investigation

The Nkwanta District Police Command has begun investigations into the murder of a 36-year-old man, Thomas Adon, who was shot dead at Keri in the Nkwanta South Municipality.

A joint Police-Military team was deployed to the scene on June 8, 2026, after a report was received that a man had been shot and killed.

On arrival, security personnel found the body of the deceased lying in a pool of blood with multiple suspected gunshot wounds.

A search of the area led to the recovery of a piece of wood, 15 spent cartridges, and five live BB and AA cartridges. The items have been retained as exhibits for the investigation.

The body has been conveyed to the St Joseph's Hospital Mortuary in Nkwanta for preservation and a post-mortem examination.

The Joint Security Team later met chiefs, elders and family members of the deceased. The team expressed sympathy to the family and assured them that investigations would be conducted thoroughly, impartially and professionally.

Residents were also urged to remain calm, cooperate with the security agencies and avoid any acts of reprisal.

The Joint Security Team said efforts were underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing and appealed to the public to provide credible information that could assist the investigation.

The information was contained in a press release issued by the Ghana Police Service's Oti Regional Headquarters in Dambai on June 8, 2026.
