MOFA receives donation from Wynca Sunshine Agric Company towards 2025 Farmers Day

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) has received a donation of pesticides and knapsack sprayers valued at GH₵150,000 from Wynca Sunshine Ghana Agric Company Limited in support of the 41st Farmers Day celebration.

Presenting the items in Accra last Wednesday, the General Manager of Wynca Sunshine, Mr Zhu Tao, said the company found it necessary to support hardworking farmers across the country through the Ministry.

He noted that mechanised agriculture plays a crucial role in boosting productivity, enhancing food security and improving the quality of life of farmers.

“At Wynca Sunshine Ghana Agric Company Limited, we actively promote good agricultural practices in Ghana by introducing advanced products and technologies that help farmers increase their output and income,” he said.

Mr Zhu added that Wynca has consistently contributed to Farmers Day for more than a decade, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.

Appreciation

The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Eric Opoku, expressed his sincere appreciation to Mr Zhu Tao and encouraged the company to continue its support.

He emphasized that the Government of Ghana remains open to discussions that will foster development and create mutually beneficial partnerships.

Wynca Sunshine Ghana Agric Company Limited is one of the largest agrochemical companies in Ghana. Established in 2009 as the first African subsidiary of Wynca Holdings (China), the company began as a distributor of agricultural inputs and has since expanded into agrochemical production, building materials, and logistics services. Its operations now span Ghana, Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Tanzania. 

The company is currently the largest pesticide supplier in West Africa, with glyphosate alone commanding more than 35 per cent of the market share in Ghana.
