National Lottery Authority not accountable - Nana Asamoah

A former Executive member of the Ashanti Regional Lotto Receivers Union, Nana Kwame Asamoah,  has appealed to the government to critically monitor all proceeds that go to the National Lottery Authority (NLA).

He said the government loses millions of Ghana Cedis  every week due to the connivance of some private lotto operators and the NLA.

Nana Asamoah told the Daily Graphic that automated print-out  machines were woefully inadequate.

According to him, the inadequate supply of automated machines had led to the manipulation of the system, making the nation lose a lot of money.

Mr Barimah noted that, advertisement, as a means of attracting lottery stakers, was not necessary.

What was necessary, he said, was the purchase of more automation machines, which would enhance lottery operations in Ghana.

Nana Asamoah advised the government to establish NLA offices in all districts in the country, to ensure the effective administration and monitoring of lottery sales.

He was of the view that if the government was to be vigilant, the NLA, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) would generate more revenue for national development.
