National Service Authority introduces optional military training for national service personnel
Prospective national service personnel for the 2025/2026 service year now have the option to undergo a six-week basic military training programme prior to their official postings.
The National Service Authority (NSA) made the announcement in a press release signed by the Acting Director-General, Mr Felix Gyamfi. The initiative, he noted, is intended to instil discipline, patriotism, and physical readiness among graduates.
According to the statement, interested applicants may indicate their willingness to participate in the military training during the online registration process.
Mr Gyamfi clarified that only a limited number of graduates from the upcoming cohort will be selected for the pilot phase of the programme.
“In line with the introduction of a six-week Basic Military Training as part of national service, the NSA will deploy a limited number of graduates from the 2025/2026 cohort for participation in the pilot phase of this programme,” the release stated.
“Interested applicants may indicate their willingness to participate during the online registration process. Final postings to user agencies will occur after the military orientation is complete, ensuring that no participant forfeits their work placement due to participation in this phase.”
The registration window officially opened on 17 June 2025 and will close on 1 July 2025.
Mr Gyamfi encouraged all eligible applicants to complete their registration within the stated period and to utilise available support resources to ensure a smooth enrolment experience.
