NIA to set up issuance points for Ghana Card - They will serve registrants who could not get cards
Following the completion of the mass registration exercise for the Ghana Card in some centres within the Accra West Zone on May 25, 2019, the National Identification Authority (NIA) is to establish card issuance and collection points in some areas within the zone to enable those who registered successfully but were not issued with their cards to get them.
In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs of the NIA, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Francis Palmdeti, the NIA mentioned the Ga South (Bortianor, Ngleshie, Amanfro), Ga East (Weija, Gbawe, Domeabra/Obom) and Ga Central (Anyaa, Sowutuom) as the municipalities earmarked for the card collection points.
The rest are the Ga West (Trobu, Amasaman) and the Ga North (Okaikoi South, Okaikoi Central, Okaikoi North, Ablekuma South, Ablekuma Central, Ablekuma West, Ablekuma North and Ashiedu Keteke) municipalities.

Notification
The statement said affected registrants would be informed about the designated collection points via text messages, phone calls, radio and television announcements.
However, for those who were unable to register during the mass registration in the aforementioned municipalities, the NIA said it would later set up district and regional offices after the mass registration exercise to afford them the opportunity to register.
“The NIA is unable to grant the request to extend the duration of the mass registration exercise in the said zone, as doing so will adversely affect the published national roll-out strategy,” the statement explained.
Mass registration exercise
The statement recalled that in line with its mandate, the NIA commenced a mass registration and Ghana Card issuance exercise in the Greater Accra Region from April 29, 2019.
The exercise to be conducted in the Accra West and Accra East zones is scheduled to end on July 6, 2019, after which it would be extended to the other regions.
Following the closure of registration in some centres within the Accra West Zone, the NIA said it would soon announce the schedule and specific areas for the commencement of the exercise in the Accra East zone.
