Northern Region gets 50 hand-dug wells

A number of communities in the Northern Region have benefited from 50 hand-dug wells funded by the Vice-President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum. About 100,000 people are expected to use the water from the 50 wells for domestic and commercial purposes.

Basins have been constructed close to all the wells, from which animals can drink.

The construction of the wells formed part of Sheikh Al-Maktoum’s programme to provide potable water to five million people in deprived communities across the globe.

Ghana benefited from the project through the Islamic Council for Development and Humanitarian Services (ICODEHS).

The Executive Chairman of ICODEHS, Sheikh Mustapha Ibrahim, said the wells would ease the difficulty that the people in the beneficiary communities went through in securing potable water.

He, therefore, thanked Sheikh Al-Maktoum and the people of the UAE for coming to the aid of the people.

Sheikh Mustapha prayed for continuous peace and prosperity in the UAE.
