Juaso Forestry office attack, police arrest suspected gang leader

Police have arrested the alleged leader of a group of about thirty men who stormed the Juaso District Forestry Services Division office on Monday, December 1, 2025, and made away with vehicles, chainsaws and cash, the Ashanti Regional Police Command said in a statement issued on December 4.

According to the police, the group, armed with knives, entered the office while the Forestry Rapid Response Team was away on monitoring duties.

The statement, which was posted on the Ghana Police Facebook page, said the men compelled staff to hand over their mobile phones before moving through several offices.

The intruders took two chainsaw machines, a tricycle, two KIA trucks and nine thousand Ghana cedis belonging to a staff member.

Police officers mounted a pursuit soon after the report was received.

This led to the arrest of the gang’s alleged leader, Mr Prince Agyapong, and the recovery of the two stolen KIA trucks.

The vehicles were later taken to the Juaso District Police Headquarters to support the investigation.

Mr Agyapong was arraigned before the Agogo District Court on a provisional charge of robbery and was remanded into police custody.

He is expected to reappear on December 15, 2025.

Police said efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects and retrieve the items that have not yet been found, including the chainsaw machines, tricycle and cash.
