The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly shooting and injuring a traditional ruler of Adansi Dompoase during a funeral at Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
According to the police, officers on duty heard a gunshot on Saturday, 29 November, and moved in to disarm and arrest the suspect, identified as Nana Yaw Dankwa.
The police retrieved an unregistered single-barreled gun loaded with ammunition during the arrest.
The injured chief received medical attention and has since been discharged, the police said.
The suspect is currently in custody and will be put before the court as investigations continue.
