The police have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery and carjacking incident that occurred at Mpatasie near St. Anthony Hospital in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects, identified as Issaka Jamal, aged 30, and Kwadwo Badu, aged 40, were apprehended after attempting to escape from police along the Ofankor–St. John’s stretch of the Accra–Nsawam highway on November 8, 2025.

In a press statement dated November 8, 2025, the police explained that one suspect sustained a gunshot wound while the other suffered minor injuries during the arrest. Both are receiving treatment at the Police Hospital.

Preliminary investigations by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police indicate that the suspects and their accomplices attacked two occupants of an unregistered silver Hyundai Tucson (DV-5357-Z) at Mpatasie on November 7, 2025.

The statement said the robbers fled with GH₵120,000 cash, three mobile phones, identity cards, work tools, and other personal belongings before escaping with the vehicle.

The police operation led to the recovery of the stolen Hyundai Tucson, cash amounting to GH₵5,900, and a customised number plate marked “Congo-1-24,” among other exhibits.

According to the CID, the recovered items have been secured at the Police Headquarters while efforts continue to arrest the remaining suspects.

The police said it was stepping up intelligence-led operations to ensure that all individuals involved in the robbery are arrested and prosecuted.
