Police arrest two suspects in Spintex robbery case

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery that occurred at Spintex in Accra on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Briefing the press in Accra on Saturday, September 20, Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor said the two armed men broke into the residence of a 35-year-old man around 3:25 a.m. and stole valuables including gold jewellery, electronics, cash (US$5,000 and GHS 21,645), and personal items.

She said acting on intelligence, the police on September 18 arrested 26-year-old Prince Opoku, also known as Agyenkwa, together with Nigerian national Jennifer Nweke at Adenta.

“A machete, a metal cutter, and a T-shirt believed to have been left behind by the suspects were retrieved for evidential purposes. The crime scene was documented and investigations commenced immediately,” COP Donkor stated.

“A search conducted on them revealed some of the stolen items including jewelry, mobile phones, and large sums of cash,” she said.

According to the CID boss, the suspects later led investigators to their hideout at Abokobi, where additional stolen items belonging to the victim were recovered.

“During interrogation, suspect Opoku admitted his involvement in the crime and mentioned one Mensah, alias Taller, as his accomplice and leader of the operation,” COP Donkor revealed.

She noted that the police are pursuing other suspects as “strenuous efforts are currently underway to trace and arrest other suspects who are currently on the run to face justice.”
