Ghana Police destroy seized cannabis worth GH¢4.2 billion

The Volta Regional Police Command has destroyed 600 sacks of cannabis, with a total weight of 47,530 kilogrammes and an estimated street value of GH¢4.2 billion.

The narcotics, seized in 2022 as part of a case involving suspects Yao Kwadwo and two others, were burned on Monday, November 17, at the Klefe dumping site in Ho.

The exercise, which began at 2:30 pm and concluded around 10:30 pm, was supervised by representatives from the judiciary, the Narcotics Control Commission, the Environmental Protection Authority, and state attorneys.

The Police emphasised that the burning was conducted under strict supervision from the Police, National Security, and the media. The Command also acknowledged the support of stakeholders in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
