Police investigate alleged attack on Asantehene's convoy in Techiman

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into an alleged attack on the convoy of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The incident is reported to have occurred on December 2 in Techiman, located in the Bono East Region.

According to a statement issued by the Police, preliminary findings indicate that the attack took place as the Asantehene was returning from a funeral in Nkoranza. 

The Police explained that some youth, believed to be from Techiman, reportedly threw stones at buses in the convoy.

The Police has confirmed that they are in contact with the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and other relevant stakeholders in Techiman to aid the ongoing investigations.

"We urge the public to remain calm and cooperate with the Police as the investigation into the matter continues," the statement added.
