Ayawaso East: Police signal readiness ahead of by-election

The Ghana Police Service has carried out a show of force and route march in the Ayawaso East Constituency as part of security preparations for the upcoming by-election.

A statement issued by the police on Saturday, February 28, 2026, said the exercise formed part of measures to maintain peace, security and public order before, during and after the polls.

The operation involved the deployment of personnel from various units, who marched through major streets within the constituency to increase police visibility.

According to the police, the exercise was intended to demonstrate readiness and deter acts that could disrupt the electoral process.

It added that arrangements are in place to maintain law and order and provide a safe environment for voters, candidates and election officials.

The Service urged residents and other stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies to help maintain a peaceful and orderly by-election.
