2025 recruitment for Police, Prisons, Immigration postponed to Nov 17 after El Wak stampede

The Minister for the Interior has announced a postponement of the nationwide recruitment exercise into the internal security services following last Wednesday's stampede at the El Wak stadium involving a similar exercise with the military.

The start of the exercise will now start from Monday, November 17 instead of the previously advertised Saturday November 15 date.

The decision, communicated on Friday at a press conferences follows the tragic incident at the El Wak Sports Stadium during the military recruitment process, the sector Minister, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak said.

According to the Interior Minister, the exercise for the Police, Immigration and Prisons Service will resume on Monday, with an updated schedule expected to be published in the national newspapers, on official social media platforms, and through the appropriate ministries and agencies.

A total of 28 applicants were affected in the El Wak incident, with 12 in critical condition, five receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, and six confirmed dead. A separate recruitment exercise in Kumasi also recorded five injuries.
