The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled planned and emergency maintenance exercises across three regions for Monday, March 30, 2026, even as engineers continue restoration efforts following Sunday's devastating rainstorm that left parts of Accra and Tema in darkness.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor over the past several days, the coordinated works are aimed at enhancing service reliability and addressing urgent network issues.

The outages will commence at varying times across affected areas, with durations depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.

In the Accra East Region, a planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Tseaddo Goil, Tseaddo Royal Mart, the Old American Embassy, Wooden, Osu Food Court, and surrounding areas. The eight-hour outage will impact this bustling commercial and diplomatic corridor as technicians undertake essential infrastructure upgrades.

The Central Region will experience a planned operation from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting a sweeping list of communities including Saltpond Packaging, Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Abonko Kuntu, Pebi, Lawyer Enchill, Roman Hospital, New Nkusukum, Mankessim, Bafikrom, Krofu Road, Saltpond Zongo, Kurankyekrom, Otsir, Ekurabadze, Anomabo, Kormantse, and surrounding areas.

In the Western Region, an emergency maintenance exercise has been scheduled from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, affecting Dwenase, Kokokrom, Omanhene, New Site, Mpomam, Wiawso, Susumenette, Old and New Adiembra, Kessekrom, Awhiam, Nsawora, and surrounding areas. The four-hour outage is aimed at addressing urgent network issues to prevent further deterioration of service quality.

These scheduled interventions come as the ECG continues to grapple with the aftermath of Sunday's heavy rainstorm, which affected 57 feeders in Accra and Tema. As of Sunday evening, 38 had been restored while 19 remained outstanding. Communities still awaiting restoration included Nmaijorm, parts of Ashley Botwe, parts of Lakeside Estates, parts of Lartebiokorshie, Zongo Junction, Parakuo Estate, Pure Fire, BOG Warehouse, Papaya, Adabraka, parts of the South Industrial Area, parts of East Legon, Russia, Zamrama Line, Sukura, Ayawaso, Olebu, Ashuman, parts of Dansoman, parts of North Kaneshie, Gandour Cosmetics, Sintex, and surrounding areas.

Additionally, the Accra West Region has been dealing with a cable fault at Amasaman that has disrupted power to Amasaman, Fise, Urban Roads, the Hospital, Municipal Assembly, Lakisha Hotel, Slaughter House, China Mall, and surrounding areas. Engineers have been standing by to restore supply as soon as the challenge is resolved.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the ongoing restoration efforts following Sunday's storm. The company urged customers experiencing outages to report through its Contact Centre, the ECG PowerApp, or its official social media handles, while assuring the public that engineers are working diligently to fully restore power across the regions.
