The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled planned and emergency maintenance exercises across two regions for Thursday, April 2, 2026, with engineers set to undertake critical infrastructure upgrades that will temporarily disrupt power supply to several communities in the Central Region and beyond, even as restoration efforts continue in the Accra West Region following a network fault on Wednesday.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor over the past several days, the coordinated works are aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid.

The outages will commence at 9:00 am across affected areas, with durations varying depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.

In the Central Region, a planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting a broad list of communities including Saltpond Packaging, Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School, Abonko, New Nkusukum, Roman Hospital, Mankessim, Bafikrom, Saltpond Zongo, Kurankyekrom, Kormantse, Otsir Ekurabadze, Anomabo, and surrounding areas. The seven-hour outage will impact both industrial and residential zones across this coastal corridor.

Additionally, an emergency maintenance exercise has been scheduled from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, affecting part of Asabi Town, Boubai Muntaka, Boubai Town, Adukrom, part of Sawaaba, Aprade, Mesuam, Ekyem, Nsanie, Oduom, and surrounding areas. The three-hour outage is aimed at addressing urgent network issues to prevent further deterioration of service quality.

These scheduled interventions come as the ECG continues to manage the aftermath of a network fault in the Accra West Region that disrupted power on Wednesday, 1st April 2026. According to a statement issued by the company, the outage affected Dan Wright, IBE, Laterbiokorshie, Kamara, Mamprobi, Bubuashie, Accra Academy, Agape Down, and surrounding areas. Engineers were deployed to rectify the fault and restore supply as swiftly as possible.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the ongoing fault repairs.

The company reassured the public that engineers are working diligently to resolve all network issues while emphasising that the planned exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network across the regions.
