The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled an extensive network of planned maintenance exercises across four regions for Wednesday, March 25, 2026, even as engineers continue to battle multiple network faults that plunged scores of communities into darkness across the Central, Accra West, and Accra East Regions on Tuesday.
According to a comprehensive set of advisories issued by the power distributor, the coordinated planned works are aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid. The outages will commence at 9:00 am across most affected areas, though the duration of interruptions will vary depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.
In the Tema Region, a planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting a sweeping list of communities including Aunty Araba, Jordan City, Katamanso, Promise Land, Lorlornyo, Akrade, Senchi, Atimpoku, Akwamufie, Juapong, Tagadzi, Dorfor, Adidome, Volo, Vome, Pordoe, Kissifui, Kpota, Mpakadam, Apegusu, Frankadua, Osiabura, Asikuma, Anum, Boso, and surrounding areas. The seven-hour outage will impact both residential and industrial zones across this broad corridor.
The Central Region will witness two separate planned maintenance operations on Wednesday. A second exercise during the same timeframe will impact Moree, Pedu, the Regional Police headquarters, 4th Ridge, Tsibu Darko, Abura, Eyifua, Kakumdo, Esuekyir, CCTU, Bonkus, Basakrom, Wiamoa, Edukrom, Krobo, Nframandwir, Kwakye, Sekyere Hemang, and surrounding communities.
In the Accra East Region, a planned maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Lakeside Community 1 and 5, New Legon, Abokobi Boi, Comet Estates, KNUST City Campus, parts of GIMPA Campus, parts of North Dzorwulu, parts of Tseaddo, and surrounding areas.
The Accra West Region will also experience an eight-hour exercise from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Nkrumah Flats, Tesano Baptist Church, and surrounding areas.
These scheduled interventions come on the heels of a series of unplanned outages that disrupted power supply across multiple regions on Tuesday. In the Central Region, parts of Kasoa Walantu, Millennium Sector 6, Nyanyano Suncity, Langma, and surrounding areas experienced outages due to faults in the ECG network.
In the Accra West Region, a separate network fault affected Dan Wright, the Ablekuma Central District Assembly, Salvation Park, Abeka, Tesano, Lapaz, Bubuashie, Atico, Control, Chorkor 31st, and surrounding areas. Engineers were deployed to rectify the fault and restore the supply.
Additionally, in the Accra East Region, an underground cable fault at Dodowa Forest Hotel triggered outages affecting parts of Dodowa Township, Mensah Bar, Oyibi, Appolonia, Adombrobe, Bawaleshie, Malejor, Green Field Estate, and surrounding areas.
In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by both the unplanned faults and the scheduled maintenance. The company reassured the public that engineers are working assiduously to resolve the various network issues while emphasising that the planned exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network across the regions.
