SEWA Foundation commends Daily Graphic
A non-governmental Organisation (NGO) has presented a certificate of appreciation to the Graphic Communications Group Limited in recognition of its outstanding commitment to the cause of children.

The certificate, presented by the organisation, Se Eye Wo Ba Anka (SEWA) foundation, which translates as ‘if it was your child’, was signed by the Director of the Foundation, Mr Jones Owusu Yeboah, and the Head of the Human Trafficking Secretariat of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Victoria Natsu.
It commended the Gender Desk of the Daily Graphic for highlighting the plight of children and helping the organisation’s awareness-creation programme on human trafficking in the urban and rural areas in Ghana.
It also said articles published on the Gender Page on the operations of the organisation had helped its process of registering 10,000 underprivileged children under the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Making the presentation, Mr Yeboah said over the years, SEWA had stood out as an influential partner in managing issues of child trafficking and child abuse in the country, adding that among other approaches, the organisation had undertaken massive awareness creation campaigns that had been executed in virtually all regions of the country.
Mission of SEWA
He said the mission of the organisation was to ensure the survival and welfare of children, provide quality education, as well as quality health of children and the underprivileged in society, adding that: “as our guiding principles, we believe that all people have the right to be free from any form of slavery and to realise their true potentials. We believe that ending slavery is an achievable goal, and everyone has a role to play.”
He said, “ In the face of severe financial and logistical challenges, SEWA has shown unflinching commitment to the issue of child trafficking and child abuse but the realities are clear for all to see; more help is required and it is needed urgently”, adding that: “individuals, the state, civil society and other organisations need to focus more attention on the issue and offer sustained support to institutions that focus their operations on addressing this menace.
Receiving the certificate, the Gender and Children’s Editor, Ms Salome Donkor, said: “the award will spur us on to greater heights to work to advance the organisation’s corporate mission to empower our audience everywhere with authentic information”.
