Jeddah Islamic School students sensitised on education, hygiene and health

The Muslimah Mentorship Network (MMN) has organised a mentorship session for students of the Jeddah Islamic School in Accra with discussions on education, personal hygiene and women’s health.

The programme, held last Sunday, August 24, 2025, brought together male and female students, three female mentors and the school’s imams.

The moderator, Miss Hassana Issaka Bambara, said Muslim youth required guidance that reflected Islamic values while responding to present-day challenges. She also led a session on menstruation awareness and harassment prevention.

“Embrace continuous learning as an act of worship. Be bold in pursuing your dreams, maintain your Islamic identity, and uphold the values of cleanliness and good character,” she told the students.

Miss Antwon Antoungmine Omar, who spoke on education, said the content of the engagement was designed to reflect both Islamic teachings and modern educational needs. She also acknowledged the support of the school authorities.

Another facilitator, Miss Rashidatu Abdullah Tetteh, took the students through personal hygiene practices and encouraged them to apply the lessons in their daily lives.

The programme opened with student-led prayers and Quran recitation. It featured interactive sessions on continuous learning from an Islamic perspective, menstrual health, harassment prevention and hygiene.

It ended with a question-and-answer session, group discussions, presentations to active participants and a networking session where students shared contacts with the MMN team for future support.

The school leadership described the initiative as useful in shaping the academic and personal development of the students.
