Veep in Russia for economic summit

The Vice-President, Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, has arrived in Saint Petersburg, Russia to participate in the Russia-Africa Economic Summit.

More than 200 participants drawn from various parts of the world have also started arriving in Saint Petersburg to participate in the three-day event which begins today.

 

They include representatives of the World Bank,  the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the media, academia, disaster management organisations and economic think tanks, especially from Africa. 

The forum will involve panel discussions which will attempt to find remedies to situations, especially epidemics which have often threatened economies of countries and entire regions, particularly in Africa. 

Veep’s iterinerary

The Vice-President will outline the various interventions implemented by the government to revamp the economy and improve the quality of life in the country.

Mr Amissah-Arthur will on Friday confer with the Prime Minister ,of Russia, Mr Dmitry Medvedev during which bilateral relations between the two countries would be discussed. 

He is also expected to meet  and brief captains of the Russian Industry  on the investment potentials in the country, especially in the agriculture, mining, tourism and oil and gas sectors. 

The Vice-President will also interact with the Ghanaian community and brief them on the political, social and economic developments in the country, ,especially the next presidential and parliamentary elections.

He is accompanied by Mr Baba Kamara, the National Security Advisor.
