YesSheCan International and UG Volta Hall empower female students on International Women’s Day

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, YesSheCan International, a leading women empowerment NGO, partnered with Volta Hall of the University of Ghana (UG) to inspire and equip young women with the tools needed to unlock their potential through entrepreneurship, effective communication, and negotiation.

Themed "Unlocking Women’s Potential Through Entrepreneurship, Effective Communication and Negotiation," the event, held at the Cedi Conference Centre, UG Legon, aimed to foster economic empowerment for women by addressing key challenges such as financial inclusion, market access, and institutional support.

Founder of YesSheCan International, Mary Anane Awuku, who also serves as Executive Director of Facility Pro and Brain Hills International School, set the tone for the seminar with a call to action. She urged a collective commitment to accelerating the growth of young women, emphasising the need for stronger support systems to help them succeed in business and leadership.

"At YesSheCan, we believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to reach her full potential. By unlocking your potential, you will not only transform your own lives but also become catalysts for positive change in your communities, industries, and the world at large," she stated.

Delivering the keynote address, Rabi Brimah, Founder and CEO of Inspiring Lives Consult, highlighted the significant contributions of women entrepreneurs to Ghana’s economy. However, she pointed out that limited access to sustainable markets remains a major obstacle for female business owners. She encouraged stakeholders to intensify efforts in fostering an inclusive society where women and girls have equal opportunities and representation.

"Let’s unite to accelerate progress and work together to build a fair and just society for all," she urged.

A panel discussion featuring Lawyer Harriet Dodoo, Dr Racheal Hansen, and Gifty Boatemaa Annan provided practical insights on overcoming barriers, staying determined, and building confidence in the pursuit of success. The speakers commended the young women present, describing them as "a source of inspiration and a testament to the potential of women shaping the future."

"We are grateful to see young ladies rise to the top of their potentials. We hope that the knowledge you have acquired here will empower you with the tools and strategies necessary to overcome obstacles, shatter glass ceilings, and achieve your dreams," they encouraged.

Students who attended the seminar expressed enthusiasm about the life-changing insights and motivation they received from the speakers. Many described the event as an eye-opener that broadened their knowledge on personal and professional growth.

As Ghana marks International Women’s Day 2025, the event sent a strong message: Accelerating action for women entrepreneurs means accelerating progress toward a stronger, more equitable, and economically empowered society.
