Toyota Ghana Ltd has donated Gh₡5,000 to the Little Steps Foundation of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital towards the wellbeing of children.

The support is to help pay for the health needs of children whose parents are not able to foot their bills for some reasons.

Intervention
The foundation provides support when critical drugs needed by the child are not available at the hospital or are not covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme and thus makes it very difficult for the parents to procure the drug to save the life of the child.

The gesture also helps reduce child mortality in the region and the nation when the family is unable to access proper treatment due to financial constraints.

The Managing Director of Toyota Ghana Ltd, Mr Tetsuya Suematsu, in an address read for him by Madam Ama Orleans Lindsay, Public Relations Officer, pledged the company’s support towards improvement of health care delivery in the country especially for children.

He said the company has shown a great deal of commitment in the area of health because it believed that health was indeed wealth, saying it had been consistent in supporting the KATH due to its strategic location, coupled with the heavy toll on its logistics.

The MD pledged Toyota’s unflinching support towards KATH and indeed the general health sector to deliver quality health care to the people of Ghana and beyond.

The Chairperson of Little Steps Foundation, Dr Gyikua Plange-Rhule, commended Toyota Ghana Ltd for the support which she said will go a long way to improve the lives of many children in dire need of quality health care delivery.

Formation
Little Steps Foundation is a health related Non-governmental organization formed in April this year at KATH to help support children who are critically ill but whose parents cannot afford their medical bills.

Dr Plange-Rhule said since its inception, it had assisted more than 42 cancer patients and other children with diverse health challenges.

She debunked the erroneous notion that it was for assisting children whose parents are not able to pay for their medical bills after their treatment at the hospital.
