Adwoa Safo set to appear before NPP disciplinary committee on Monday
Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is set to appear before the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Disciplinary Committee tomorrow, April 7, 2025
A letter dated March 24 and signed by Mr William Yamoah, Director of Finance and Administration, invited the MP to assist in an inquiry currently under consideration by the party.
The directive, according to the letter, came from the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee.
The hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the NPP Headquarters Conference Room at Asylum Down, Accra.
A referral letter from the General Secretary was attached to the notice for her reference.
“You are advised to present any documentary evidence or witnesses pertinent to the matter under investigation,” the letter stated.
It also indicated that she may be accompanied by legal representation during the proceedings, should she require it.
While the party did not specify the exact subject of the inquiry, the development follows recent comments made by Ms Safo in which she accused the party’s leadership of neglecting her following her return to Parliament in 2023.
In a series of media interviews earlier this year, the former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection alleged that certain figures within the NPP worked against her during her extended absence from the House and sought to remove her from office.
Her remarks triggered internal reactions, with some party members reportedly uncomfortable with her tone and the implications of her claims.
In the letter, the NPP stated that it remains guided by the principles of transparency, fairness, and due process, and requested that Ms Safo acknowledge receipt of the invitation and confirm her attendance.
The correspondence was copied to the National Chairman, the General Secretary, and the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee.
