Afigya Kwabre North MP grateful to constituents

The MP stated this at a thanksgiving service held at Tetrem, his hometown, on Sunday. The service which was chaired by Nkwantakesehene, Nana Boakye Yam Ababio I. Also present was Otumfuo’s Sasamopaninhene who doubles as the chief of Nkwanta-Patase, Nana Oti Mpeaben Ababio, and several chiefs in the Afigya Kwabre Traditional Area. Others were members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Afigya Kwabre North Constituency and Afigya Kwabre South Constituency.

 Nana Marfo Amaniampong secured 17,597 votes, representing 69.34 per cent of the total valid votes cast in the 2012 parliamentary election to succeed the former MP of the renamed Afigya Sekyere West, Mr Albert Kan Dapaah who did not contest the party’s primary election.

In his short sermon, the Pastor of the Tetrem Methodist Church, the Very Rev. Stephen Gyasi, made reference to the biblical Hezekiah who at the age of 16 was made king and reigned for 52 years, but in spite of his success his pride led to his downfall.

He said Hezekiah failed to recognise God’s hand in his achievements. He therefore advised the MP to exhibit his God-fearing spirit and humility in the course of duty.

“God will never fail you”, he told the MP, and asked the people to support him with their prayers.

Mr Kan Dapaah thanked the people for voting for him in the years past and asked them to do the same for his successor and expressed the hope that he would achieve great feats.
