Assembly members cautioned against partisan politics
Assembly members have been advised to resist the temptation of engaging in partisan politics this year.

The Director of Magis Literacy Age Foundation, Alhaji Haroun Tetteh Mensah said this at the maiden workshop organised by the foundation for past and present assembly members in the Awutu Senya East Municipality at Kasoa in the Central Region.
“This year, being an election year, we have to position ourselves in a manner where partisan political activities would not cloud our work as assembly members.
“This is why we think you should not come out openly to engage in active politics.
“Failure to stay away from being partisan will make people shy away from you; meetings or other communal activities may be organised but no one may attend them,” he said.
The programme was part of the foundation’s activities to enhance the country’s decentralisation process.
It was on the theme: “Decentralisation as an effective tool for development in Ghana’s contemporary political history.”
Alhaji Mensah said the workshop was to improve the relationship among the assembly members and members of the community to enhance development in the municipality.

“We feel we have enough human materials in the system. We can use them to help in the development process of the municipality and the country at large,” he said.
He said Kasoa was a cosmopolitan area, with people from diverse backgrounds, and it needed to be developed with the available human resource it had.
“Every day, there are innovations and I think we have to tap some of these for our betterment as a people with a common agenda to develop,” he added.
