In an interview  with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra, Mr Horoya said his utmost priority was to unite members of the constituency, especially those who lost the election.

“Unity among the party is paramount in achieving any organisational programme, and as the incoming organiser, I pledge to mobilise all members in the constituency to come out with strategies of retaining power in the 2016 elections,” he added.

He polled 171 votes as against his main contender, Alhaji Sanda, who polled 94 votes.

Mr Horoya said he had started having talks with members who lost their positions for them to not  distance themselves from the party, but see the election as a mark of enhancing democratic values, and added that the support of all was needed for the development of the party.

He said the constituency branches in the area were weak due to lack of logistics and as part of his commitment, he donated 76 plastic chairs to all the branches in the Ayawaso East Constituency and 30 chairs to the three wards: Kanda ward, Nima East ward and Nima West ward.

Mr Horoya promised to organise meetings every three months for the three branches to brief members on latest developments in the party, to discuss their grievances and develop possible ways of addressing those problems.

He said he would engage sympathisers of the party who were not card-bearing members for regular discussions on the way forward for the party since they constituted a significant  support base of the party who needed to be accorded respect.

Mr Horoya thanked all those who reposed confidence in him by voting for him and pledged his unflinching desire to mobilise the youth and strategise to win in the 2016 elections.

He stressed that the party had records of achievements and was also pursuing development projects, such as the Ghana National Gas Processing Plant and the refurbishment and expansion of the Ridge Hospital, the Police Hospital in Accra, and the Kpone Water Works. — GNA
