Professor Gyan-Baffour, who served as a Deputy Minister under Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, will deliver the lecture with Mr Moses Asaga, also a former Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, as the discussant.

A release issued by the organisers of the lecture, Financial Accountability and Transparency - Africa (FAT-AFRICA) and the Ghana Institute for Public Policy Options (GIPPO), said the lectures had been established to recognise and immortalise the life and work of the late Baah-Wiredu.

A chartered accountant and politician, Baah-Wiredu died in office while serving as Ghana’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning under President John Agyekum Kufuor.

The inaugural lecture, according to the organisers, would be on the theme “Fiscal policy, accountability and transparency as instruments for effective national development”.

The statement said the lecture would be on the generic theme, “Accountability and transparency in public financial management”.
