Boniface confident of winning La-Nkwantanang Madina seat
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) parliamentary candidate for the La-Nkwantanang Madina Constituency, Alhaji Abu-Bakar Saddique Boniface, says he is hopeful of annexing the seat from the incumbent, Alhaji Amardo Sorogo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Describing the incumbent as a brother, Alhaji Boniface said the inhabitants of Madina and its environs needed a paradigm shift, hence ”my confidence to annex the seat from my brother who has failed us for the past 11 years, ” he declared.
His mission to the constituents is based on peace, youth empowerment, women development, education and infrastructure development. He added that “the municipality needs a hospital and a library.”
A familiarisation visit to two churches
The former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) made the appeal recently during a familiarisation visit to two churches at Danfa, near Madina.
He interacted with the congregants at the Methodist Church of Ghana and Lighthouse Chapel International on separate occasions and appealed to them to pray for the country as it prepared for the elections on November 7.
Building capacity
The former minister said as a developing country, Ghana should see building the capacity of the youth as critical for a viable economy.
The youth, Alhaji Boniface said, were supposed to be the core of every economy, so they are the actual capital in every economy. “It is their human right to be able to work and contribute their quota to the development of their economy.” he added.
The absence of a vibrant youth segment in an economy, he said, was likely to inhibit the progress of the country; hence developing the youth “will bring more investment, and more money.’’

He, therefore, urged the government to assist the youth with a working capital to reduce unemployment in the country.
“About 300,000 young people enter the labour market every year. The formal sector is only able to engage less than 6000 (three per cent), leaving about 97 per cent to survive in the informal sector or outrightly unemployed, “he stated.
Public service
During his public service, Alhaji Boniface served as a deputy minister and a sector minister in five sectors from 2001 to 2009.
That, he said, gave him much experience in governance, encouraging him to serve the people of Madina and its environs selflessly.
“In the eight-year rule of ex-President Kufuor, I served as a deputy in two ministries and was elevated to serve as a substantive minister in three different ministries.
“My track record as a Madina boy for the past 30 years and my good work in government makes me the best candidate to salvage the people of Madina and its environs,” he stated.
