Election 2024: Catholic Bishops commend EC for conduct of polls
The Ghana Catholic Bishops' Conference (GCBC) has commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for the professionalism, transparency and efficiency with which the December 7, 2024 elections were organised and managed.
“Despite the challenges that inevitably accompany the conduct of elections in any democracy, the EC’s dedication to upholding the integrity of the electoral process has been evident, ensuring that Ghana continues to serve as a model of democracy on the African continent,” it stated.

This was contained in a congratulatory message to the EC for successfully administrating the 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections, signed by the GCBC President, the Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, in Accra last Wednesday.
Leadership
It said the GCBC recognised the significant efforts made by the chairperson of the EC, Jean Mensa, “who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and steadfast commitment to the Electoral Commission’s mandate.”
It noted that under her stewardship, the EC had not only delivered a credible electoral process but had also strengthened public confidence in the country's electoral systems.
Transparent process
The statement applauded the EC for its effective collaboration with other stakeholders, including political parties, security agencies, civil society organisations and the electorate, “ensuring that the process was peaceful, transparent and conducted in a manner that reflects the will of the people.”
It prayed for continued peace and stability in the country and urged all stakeholders to continue working together in the spirit of unity, respect and national development.
It asked God to continue to bless the country and guide its leaders in their responsibility to serve the people with wisdom, integrity and dedication.
