Fire City Chapel honours lead pastor Bishop Hackman

The lead pastor of the Fire City Chapel, Bishop Charles C. Hackman has been honoured for his various philanthropic work to persons living with disability in Ghana.

At the same honorary ceremony, he was also consecrated into the office of a Bishop at the Fire City Chapel (FCC) at Teshie in Accra.

Bishop Hackman through the Here for Perfection (H4P) non-governmental organisation has been contributing immensely to the disability community in the past 8 years.

He has been helping persons living with disability in the areas of education, media, health, sports and entertainment.

Bishop Hackman’s contribution to the disability community for the past eight 8 years has been phenomenal according to the citation which accompanied the award.

His projects and activities are said to have uniquely redefined the perception of disability through a simple message – “there is ability in disability.”

Known as the ‘Voice of ability on air, for persons with disability’, Bishop Hackman’s focus has over the years been on throwing the spotlight on the abilities of persons with disabilities.

His passion has over the years, helped to reshape the frames of references, ideologies and mindsets associated with disability and persons with disability.

Among those who attended the honorary ceremony were church members and other disability groups who had benefited from Bishop Hackman’s outreach programmes.

There were testimonials about his good deeds from various people such as Mr John Majisi, Member of Parliament for Krachi/Nchumuru, Mawunyo Yakor-Dagbah, the National President for Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations, Mr Henry Seidu Danaa, a former Minister of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, Farida Bedwei, an internationally recognised software engineer, Madam Salome Francios, founder of New Horizon Special School, among others.

The Here for Perfection (H4P) organization was birthed on January 11, 2011 by Bishop Hackman as the vehicle through which he has been assisting the vulnerable and marginalised in Ghana.

Initiatives of H4P include the Helping Hand TV show, produced and hosted by Bishop Hackman with the focus of sharing the stories of successful persons with disability.

He has also been organising inter-schools disability fun games.

Induction

Most Reverend Dr Joel Tetteh who performed the induction stated that Bishop Hackman had served the society well and deserved such an honour since many underprivileged individuals across the country are now privileged due to the Bishop’s initiatives.

“If all humans could have such empathy for humanity and act like Bishop Hackman, the world would have been a better place. For the past years I’ve known him, he is humble to anyone, irrespective of his status and treat everyone equally and it’s very deserving that this honour is being bestowed on him,” Most Reverend Tetteh stated.

He admonished Bishop Hackman to continue with his good works and continue to touch humanity with the blessing God had given him, adding that “this is even just the beginning and I know for sure that the almighty God will continue to guide and guard you throughout all your endeavours to ensure that your mission on earth is fulfilled.”

Disability

The newly inducted bishop expressed delight for the honour.

He said that was a motivation and it was going to intensify his effort in promoting development in the disability community, adding that “we will strengthen our outreach programmes and ensure that disability will be at the forefront of our activities.”
