Young Larbie set for major show in USA
Ghana’s boy wonder of boxing, Prince “The Buzz” Larbie, is set to electrify fans across the Atlantic as he headlines a major fight show in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 20 – marking his sensational US debut at just 12 years old.
Prince, a Primary 6 pupil at Prince De Henry Educational Complex in Accra, has been dazzling boxing enthusiasts since he was just five, delivering thrilling, fast-paced performances in exhibition bouts during some of Ghana’s biggest boxing events.
Under the watchful eye of his father and coach, Daniel Larbie, Prince has honed a dynamic style that blends speed, flair, and showmanship far beyond his years.
Now, the prodigy is stepping onto the international stage as the main attraction at a Debbie King Promotions event in Cleveland – a platform that has hosted some of America’s most promising young fighters.
The Ghanaian youngster is expected to face off against a US opponent in what is billed as the highlight bout of the tournament, which runs from June 20--21.
Fuelled by growing international recognition, his profile caught the attention of Dr Deborah King – daughter of the legendary promoter Don King and founder of Debbie King Promotions. Last year, she signed the Ghanaian youngster to a formal management deal, vowing to nurture his path to global stardom.
“Prince is a rare talent,” Dr King, a respected Hall of Fame inductee and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, said, adding, “He’s not just a fighter – he’s a leader for his generation. I believe he has everything it takes to become a global icon in the sport.”
As part of his preparation, Prince recently undertook a week-long training tour at the prestigious Appolo Sporting Club in Paris, France, two months ago -– a move designed to sharpen his skills ahead of the big US outing.
Speaking to the Graphic Sports, his father and trainer said the opportunity for Prince was huge to show the world what he could accomplish in the ring.
"He’s a world champion in the making, and Dr King is eager to introduce him to the American boxing scene. We had a strong camp in France, and now we’re looking forward to the fight. We’re just waiting for the visa,” Coach Larbie added.
