54 Shortlisted for MDCE nominations in Volta Region
The Volta Regional Vetting Committee has successfully shortlisted and recommended 54 individuals for the positions of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) across the region’s 18 municipal and district assemblies.
The shortlisted candidates consisted of three individuals from each assembly, which is made up of nine women and 45 men from a total of 237 applicants made up of 30 women and 207 who applied and were vetted.
The acting Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bright Kwashie Ege, said the party did diligent and meticulous work during the vetting process.
“We are pleased to announce that after meticulous and diligent work, the vetting committee has completed a thorough assessment of all applicants,” he said in a press statement.
Further scrutiny
The week-long exercise began on January 21, with applicants from Afadzato South, Kpando and Hohoe being vetted while applicants from Anlo, Akatsi North and Keta were vetted on January 28.
Mr Ege explained that after the exercise, the committee recommended three outstanding candidates per constituency for consideration for the MDCE position for the slots of 18 assemblies in the region.
The NDC Volta Regional Secretary said the shortlisted applicants would undergo further scrutiny before President John Dramani Mahama nominates one per assembly for consideration.
