Ghana needs Dr Bawumia to restore values of service, selflessness — Kwabena Agyepong

A Senior Campaign Aide to the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has stated that Ghana needs Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to restore the values of service, sacrifice and selflessness.

That, he said, was because Dr Bawumia was one who was prepared to work hard to reduce the affection for materialism which had gripped the country.

Mr Agyepong, who was speaking during a virtual fund-raising ceremony organised by the United States chapter of Friends of Bawumia (FoB), an ancillary of the NPP, said “throughout his political and working career, Dr Bawumia has not had a dent on him and so he has got a very strong personal integrity.”

With a humble beginning, he said, Dr Bawumia had struggled through school but had through hard work and dedication made a big career for himself.

Mr Agyepong said the NPP presidential candidate has a strong vision and wants to transform the country, adding that “that is what he is set about doing right now, as we begin to chart a new course, new ideas and new dimensions.”

Touching on the December 7, 2024 elections, Mr Agyepong said Dr Bawumia had, in a short period after his election as flag bearer in November last year, been able to visit all sixteen regions and held stakeholder meetings with various groups.

“It has heightened the tolerance level of religion in this country and it has brought Ghana on the map,” he emphasised.

Mr Agyepong was confident that the NPP stood on the threshold of something historic in the country and said: “The way we are going, the NPP is capable of delivering this third elusive victory.”

So far, he said, the flag bearer had had a very effective campaign and had also shown to the country that he was hard-working.

He said Dr Bawumia had so far visited close to 170 constituencies throughout the country while his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and others were having different programmes.

“We have a multipurpose campaign strategy and its working well. I think Ghanaians will give the NPP the victory come December,” Mr Agyepong added.

Women empowerment

Ghana’s Ambassador to the USA, Hajia Alima Mahama, who graced the ceremony, said the combination of daycare centres and the free SHS policy was supporting women and also paved the way for women to go about their economic activities.

She commended the FoB, USA, for their support and said: “We are on the pathway to victory.”

Hajia Mahama also observed that the NDC was using vile campaign against the NPP and called on the NPP to also get people on the ground to dispel those vile stories.

Gratitude

For his part, the Founder and Chairman of the US Chapter of FoB, Samuel Ofosu-Appiah, said the gathering was not only to raise funds but to unite around a vision of a prosperous, stable and forward-thinking Ghana.

He touted the qualities of Dr Bawumia and indicated that the NPP leadership must be empowered to move from the promise of change to the reality of national transformation.

Mr Ofosu-Appiah further expressed appreciation to all who contributed to make the inauguration of the FoB, USA, and the fund-raising successful, saying: “Our collective belief in the ability of Dr Bawumia to lead our nation with wisdom and compassion brought us together.”
