NPP Presidential Elections Committee lauds Police, EC for peaceful polls
The Chairperson of the 2025 Presidential Elections Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Joseph Osei-Owusu, has expressed gratitude to the Ghana Police Service for ensuring a peaceful flag bearer election of the party last Saturday.
"We express our profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Administration and all officers deployed for their professionalism and dedication, which ensured a peaceful and incident-free process nationwide.
"Our deepest gratitude also goes to the chairperson of the Electoral Commission and her team for their invaluable collaboration, technical support and the successful conduct of this important national political exercise," he said.
Mr Osei-Owusu expressed the appreciation of his committee to the police and the EC at the declaration and confirmation of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the flag bearer of the party for the 2028 election at the party's headquarters in Accra last Saturday.
Recommendation
The former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament recommended that the party continue to consolidate the rules and innovations introduced by Prof. Mike Oquaye during the 2023 presidential primary, including the Intra-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), into a single comprehensive Operational Guideline.
This, he said, would continue to serve as a reference framework for all future electoral processes and further strengthen internal democracy within the party and by extension, the nation.
Mr Osei-Owusu, on behalf of the committee, thanked all the contestants for their cooperation and maturity throughout the process.
"We acknowledge the unique contributions each contestant brought to this historic process.
The NPP will always remember your respective contributions to the party," he said.
"It is important to emphasise that in this process, there is neither a victor nor a vanquished.
The ultimate winner is the New Patriotic Party. Nonetheless, history teaches us that in every contest, a special responsibility rests on the shoulders of the winner.
"To this end, we call on His Excellency Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, not only to celebrate success, but to demonstrate benevolence, embrace all compatriots in the contest and rally the entire party for the greater battle ahead, the 2028 presidential election.
The delegates believe that you can do this," Mr Osei-Owusu said.
He stated that collective resolve and unity of purpose were the surest pathways to achieve the party's shared ambition to make Ghana great and strong.
