Volta MMDAs will work with traditional, religious authorities — Minister
The Volta Regional Minister (RM), James Gunu, has said all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region will work with all traditional authorities and religious leaders.
He said he would not tolerate any MMDAs in the region that would execute its tasks without the involvement of traditional authorities and religious leaders.
Mr Gunu who gave the assurance in Hohoe during the confirmation of Prosper Kumi, the nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the putting together of Local Government and Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Ministries was for a good purpose.
Collaboration
Mr Gunu said it was to show the government's commitment to collaborating with traditional authorities and religious leaders in development and commended the authorities and leaders in the Hohoe Municipality for their interest in the development of the municipality, adding that they were assured of more collaborations.
A total of eight government appointees were also sworn in as members of the General Assembly including Newton Darkey, Hohoe Constituency Chairman, National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Other appointees are Dzani Gideon, Raphael Koku Bansah, Hillary Amexo, Frank Denu, Mohammed Tajudeen Mariga and Madam Gladys Fiagadzi.
Female representation at the General Assembly of the Municipality has decreased by one, bringing the total number of females in the current General Assembly to three out of 25 members.
