Inaugurating the Tertiary Education Institutions Network –TEIN of the NDC at the Kings University College campus at Weija last Saturday, Mr Adams said the government had put in place stringent measures to improve the economy and make life bearable for all.

He likened the challenges to turbulence on a flight which could make passengers on board uncomfortable, but gave the assurance that “we shall pass through these difficult times.”

“As social democrats, we cannot deliberately inflict pains and discomfort on our people,” he said, and urged the students not to be swayed by the consistent and deliberate lies by “our detractors.”

On the recent debate over the staffers at the presidency, Mr Adams said he did not expect Kwadwo Mpiani, a former Chief of staff, to be part of the debate because it was his administration that recorded the highest number of staffers at the presidency.

He said although the Flagstaff House was not running during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) era, the staffers at the presidency at the time were more than that of the current government.

“Don’t let anybody cut you down. Anytime we want to improve the economy, NPP will make ugly noises to try to cut us down,” he stressed; saying, “developing the country is our target.”

Mr Adams said the government would continue to create opportunities for all, particularly the youth, besides the numerous interventions, and added, “if there is a party any young person is dreaming to join, it is the NDC.

He appealed to other government functionaries to pick up their calls to explain the good works of the government .

The deputy national youth organiser of the NDC, Mr James Kofi Fonu Kpatakpa, called on school authorities not to persecute TEIN members on campuses, since it was an avenue to develop future leaders.

He appealed to  the students to consider the TEIN as an avenue to develop their political ambition but not a means to amass wealth.

He further urged national executive members not to abandon the TEIN after its inauguration but be in touch with them and encourage them all the time.

The deputy executive secretary of the Ghana Free Zones Board Authority, Ms Obuobia Opoku Darko, appealed to the students to build the grassroots level of the party “so that one day, we will be able to beat our chest that we have brought the party this far.”

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr Ade Coker, called on the students not to bow to the falsehood being peddled by the opposition parties; saying, “times are hard, but there are permanent solutions.”
