He said if given the mandate, he would use his office to sell the vision and mission of the NPP to the people in the Zongo communities and secure 50 per cent of their votes to the NPP in the 2016 election.

Alhaji Awudu, told the Daily Graphic that he would use his experience in organising and his contacts with Zongo chiefs, imams and opinion leaders to sell the NPP manifesto to the people in the Zongo communities.

He said the NDC's dominance in the Zongo communities affected the fortunes of the NPP in elections.

Alhaji Awudu said it was time for the NPP to break that dominance and win the hearts of the people in the Zongo communities.

He said he would team up with national, regional and constituency executive members of the NPP to launch a vigorous campaign in Zongo communities throughout the country.

He, therefore, appealed to the delegates of the NPP to give him their votes in the April 12, 2014 NPP delegates congress in Tamale.

Political career

Alhaji Awudu began his political career as chairman of the Ayawaso East of NASARA, later the NASARA in East, West and Central Ayawaso and the Greater Accra Region.

He was a special assistant to the late Vice-President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama.
