Let’s work extra hard for 2016 victory — Ahamazie
The National Footsoldiers Association of Ghana (NAFAG) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appealed to its members to ensure that they all work extra hard to retain NDC in power.
The association has, therefore, appealed to NDC members who left the party because of one reason or another to come back to the party because there is a new fresh air blowing across the country and through the NDC party.
Mr William Kwasi Ahamazie, the Founder and National Chairman of NAFAG, in a congratulatory message to the newly-elected NDC national executive, said the ‘returnees’ should include Dr (Mrs) Rawlings and her National Democratic Party (NDP) since the NDC is their original home.
Game of numbers
The message said politics is a game of numbers and winning absolutely depended on everybody who shared the ideals of the NDC party.
The association also appealed to the newly elected National Chairman, Mr Kofi Portuphy, to consider among his policies, the creation of small-scale businesses and job avenues to ensure that majority of the people work so that sponsorship of the party would not be left to a few people to decide the fate of the party.
The national chairman, the message said, should also extend his hand to those who lost the elections and ensure that they had roles to play in the party.
‘’We are assuring the national executive that we are willing to work with them to retain power in 2016 and beyond and so they should call us anytime they need our services,’’ the statement said.
National Delegates
The association expressed its sincere appreciation to all NDC national delegates for voting for Sir Kofi Portuphy and his team steer the affairs of the party.
It said it was showing appreciation because it campaigned and solicited for maximum support and votes through the print media.
It said besides the print media the members also undertook a one-on-one campaign and ‘were so grateful and happy that they listened to we the leaders and acted exactly according to our wishes and hearts’ desire’’.
The statement also congratulated all the elected national, regional, constituency, ward and branch executives who would be steering the affairs of the NDC party to victory in 2016.
Presidential elections
‘’We also wish to alert them that 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections are not going to be easy but we believe that everybody will put his or her hands on deck for us to work hard to retain power,’’ the statement said.
The statement concluded by wishing the President, John Dramani Mahama, who referred to himself as the ‘Chief Footsoldier’, God’s rich blessings and abundant favour that supercedes human understanding throughout this Christmas season, and a wonderful prosperous 2015.
The statement also wished the founder of the party, Dr Jerry John Rawlings; the Speaker of Parliament, the Chief Justice, Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Hon. Ekow Spio Gabrah, Hon. Clement Humado and all the important personalities in the NDC family a prosperous new year.
