MP organises medical outreach programme

The Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku Constituency, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, has organised a free medical outreach programme for residents of Teshie.

More than 100 people, including children, adults and the aged, went through various screening exercises including blood pressure, hepatitis B, diabetes, hypertension and other health challenges.

A team of health personnel from the LEKMA and Kyebi Government hospitals together with Dr Okoe Boye screened the residents and gave advice on healthy living to participants last Saturday.

Beneficiaries who were diagnosed with minor health problems were provided with medication, while those with complicated health problems were given referrals to the hospital for treatment.

Get involved

Before the medical outreach programme, Dr Okoe Boye opened the Manfe road to vehicles after fixing removed metals that covered the gutters on the intersection, following reports by residents that the absence of the metals had resulted in the breakdown of their vehicles.

In an interview with the Daily Graphic at the event, Dr Okoe Boye asked his fellow politicians to work hard in finding solutions to problems of their constituents.

“We have to be working continuously as leaders. We do not have to wait until we need people’s endorsement before we reach out to them. We should always be in the season of getting closer to our people in providing services, and through that we would get to know their concerns while we work on them,” he advised.

Medical outreach

According to him, people had health issues and they were not able to visit the hospital for medication because of lack of funds, hence the need to give them the opportunity to benefit from a free medical outreach programme.
