NDC vets aspiring national officers

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) yesterday began vetting aspiring national officers.

The vetting took place at the party’s national headquarters in Accra. Over 100 candidates who completed the nomination process were expected to go through vetting, which ends on Wednesday December 3, 2014.

One hundred and fifteen candidates across the country picked up nomination forms to contest the party’s national executive positions.

The first batch of aspirants underwent the vetting process at 10 a.m. 

Four candidates are contesting the National Chairman position, two for General Secretary, National Organiser three, while four persons are contesting the party’s Treasurer.

Three persons are also contesting the women’s organiser position, 11 for the Deputy Women’s Organiser position, six for the Youth Organiser and 11 for the Deputy Youth Organisers position.

The rest are three for Propaganda secretary and 13 for National Executive Committee (NEC) membership.

Vetting will continue tomorrow and end on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, vice chairmen (17), deputy general secretaries (six), deputy national organisers (four), deputy treasurer (five) and 12 contestants for two deputy propaganda positions will be vetted.

Apart from the vetting of those contesting youth and women’s organiser positions, which begins at 10 a.m, the remaining categories will start at 2p.m on the scheduled days. The party has scheduled the youth and women organisers conference for Saturday December 6.

Meanwhile the party’s National Delegates Congress has been rescheduled for December 20.
