NDC’s Faustina Elikplim Akurugu clinches Dome Kwabenya parliamentary seat
Madam Faustina Elikplim Akurugu, the Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has emerged victorious in the Dome Kwabenya parliamentary race, unseating the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) candidate, Mike Oquaye Jnr.
Akurugu was declared the winner by the Electoral Commission after she secured 51,634 votes, edging out Oquaye Jnr, who garnered 50,477 votes.

The electoral process was marred by tensions, with supporters of both parties engaging in heated disputes and trading accusations of attempts to undermine the will of the electorate. Despite the challenges, the collation and announcement of results proceeded under close scrutiny.
Jubilations erupted at the collation centre as Akurugu's team celebrated her triumph, with crowds outside breaking into loud cheers and chants.
Faustina Akurugu’s victory adds to the NDC's gains in this election, further consolidating the party's position in Parliament.
