Opening the conference, the DCE for Lawra thanked the party for supporting his nomination and pledged to work assiduously to ensure that the party’s dreams for the district were realised.
Addressing the conference, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, outlined some government policies in respect of the district and assured party loyalists of plans to address their concerns.
The Upper West Regional Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Abubakari, also known as Alhaji Short, who led a delegation of regional executives to the conference, told the delegates that the party was focused on increasing the number of seats it obtained in the region in the 2016 election and called on party faithful to give their best to the party.
Party unity
The MP for the Lawra Constituency, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has observed that party unity is a prerequisite for the current government to be able to deliver on its promise to Ghanaians.
He has, therefore, called on supporters of the party to unite behind government and the leadership of the NPP for a successful implementation of the party’s campaign pledges.
Addressing the party’s Maiden Annual Delegates Conference at Lawra in the Upper West Region last Saturday, Mr Karbo who is also the Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, noted that the challenges confronting the constituency were enormous and had to be addressed within four years; a feat which could be achieved only if supporters of the party united around the leadership.

He also spelt out the progress of programs the NPP administration had taken in relation to the Lawra Constituency since its assumption of power.
He assured conference of plans to continue the constituency electrification project which was started under Mr Ambrose Dery eight years ago but which was sadly abandoned when the National Democratic Congress took over the reins of power.
Touching on the upcoming internal party elections, Mr Karbo assured conference that he was going to be neutral and support whoever emerged as winner. He urged persons interested in holding party office to go out and campaign not with his name but rather to focus on what they could do for the party.
The delegates’ conference was well attended with a delegation from the regional party led by the Regional Chairman for Upper West, Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Abubakari, aka Alhaji Short.
