NPP parliamentary primaries in Ofoase–Ayirebi heat up
Three professionals have filed their nominations to contest the parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ofoase–Ayirebi Constituency.
They are engaged in the contest to replace the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mr David Oppon-Kusi, who has decided to not seek reelection.
The aspirants are Wing Commander Bright Acquah Asamoah (retd), formerly of the Ghana Air Force base in Tamale; Mr John Obiri–Yeboah, an Accra-based freight forwarder; and Mr Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, a renowned broadcast journalist, who are undergoing vetting for the real contest to begin.
In separate interviews with Mr Oppong–Nkrumah, Wing Commander Asamoah and Mr Obiri–Yeboah, each of them expressed optimism to emerge victorious to become the next legislator of the Constituency.
Profile: Oppong Nkrumah
Thirty-three-year-old Mr Oppong Nkrumah hails from Akyem Anyinase in the Akyemmansa District in the Eastern Region.
After completing Pope John’s Senior High School in Koforidua in 2001, he did his first degree in Business Communication at the University of Cape Coast , completing in 2005.
Mr Oppong Nkrumah also holds an MBA (Marketing) from the University of Ghana, Legon and Bachelor of Law Degree from GIMPA ( 2014). He was a fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative, Colorado, USA, from 2008 to 2010.
In 2013, the US government selected people worldwide to study Business Leadership in the US.
In 2015, the UK government also invited Mr Oppong Nkrumah as one of the 15 people worldwide to attend International Leadership Programme.
Mr Oppong Nkrumah is currently an entrepreneur, running his own investment management firm called Brownstone Capital in Accra.
Wing Commander Asamoah
Wing Commander Asamoah, 50, also a native of Akyem Anyinase, is a retired officer of the Ghana Air Force.
He holds Master’s degrees in International Affairs and Economic Policy Management.
Wing Commander Asamoah also holds a postgraduate Certificate in Public Administration.
John Obiri-Yeboah
Mr Obiri-Yeboah, who hails from Akyem Ayirebi, also in the Akyemmansa District, is an international freight forwarder based in Accra.
Thirty-two-year-old Mr Obiri-Yeboah works with one of the leading Freight forwarding companies in the country called Joy 4 Fame.
Mr Bret Ohene–Ampomah, the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency chairman of the NPP, has confirmed that the three men had filed their nominations to contest the primaries.
