NPP postpones Adwoa Safo’s appearance before disciplinary committee

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has postponed a scheduled disciplinary hearing involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Ms Sarah Adwoa Safo, which was originally set for Monday, April 7, 2025.

The party communicated the decision in a letter dated April 6, 2025, signed by Honourable Patrick Boamah, Secretary to the Disciplinary Committee, and William Yamoah, Director of Finance and Administration at the party’s headquarters.

The letter cited “emerging scheduling adjustments and internal considerations” for the postponement. It indicated that a new date and time for the hearing would be communicated in due course.

“We wish to notify you that the said hearing has formally been postponed,” the letter read. “Once rescheduled, we will notify you promptly of the new date and time for the hearing.”

Ms Adwoa Safo was originally invited to appear before the Disciplinary Committee at the NPP headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, on April 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., to assist in an inquiry into an unspecified matter under consideration.

The initial summons, issued on March 24, 2025, advised her to present any documentary evidence or witnesses relevant to the investigation.

It also indicated that she was entitled to legal representation during the proceedings.

While the party did not specify the exact subject of the inquiry, the development follows recent comments made by Ms Safo in which she accused the party’s leadership of neglecting her following her return to Parliament in 2023.

In a series of media interviews earlier this year, the former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection alleged that certain figures within the NPP worked against her during her extended absence from the House and sought to remove her from office.

Ms Sarah Adwoa Safo served as Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection during the Akufo-Addo administration and was a three-term Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya.
