Richard Gyan-Mensah wins Gomoa West seat for NDC with over 60% of votes
Gomoa West residents have hailed the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Richard Gyan-Mensah, for his decisive victory in the just-ended election.
Richard Gyan-Mensah secured 30,884 votes, representing 60.93% of valid votes cast, defeating his competitor Bismark Baisie Nkum, who garnered 19,211 votes, or 37.90%.

In the 2020 election, Gyan-Mensah achieved 53.01% of the vote, beating former Deputy Communications Minister Alexander Abban.
In the presidential election, Richard Gyan-Mensah’s intensive campaign efforts contributed to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate securing his largest margin of victory in the area, with 29,592 votes.
Some residents who spoke to Channel One News attributed the MP’s win to his continuous engagement with constituents and the notable infrastructural initiatives he spearheaded in Gomoa West.
“I can’t wait to see Richard Gyan-Mensah go back to Parliament and continue the good work he has started here,” said Michael Anyinsah, a resident.
“Richard Gyan is Godsend. He is always here with us. He helps and listens to us. His advocacy for his constituents, even as an opposition MP, was admirable. I am confident our development will be fast-tracked now that President Mahama is coming back into office,” another resident remarked.
“Richard Gyan-Mensah is a son of the soil. He has a good heart, and God granted him this victory,” added another.

In October this year, Richard Gyan-Mensah facilitated the commencement of construction on a polyclinic for a community within Gomoa West, further solidifying his commitment to the constituency's development.
Profile of Richard Gyan-Mensah
Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Richard Gyan-Mensah served as General Manager for Desert Oil Limited and as Head of Finance and Planning with Petrosol Ghana Limited.
Currently, Gyan-Mensah is the Vice Chair of the Budget Committee of Parliament and a member of the Youth and Sports Committee. He also serves on the Security and Intelligence Committee.
In the eighth Parliament, he previously served on the Environment, Science and Technology Committee.

The residents of Gomoa West are hopeful that Gyan-Mensah’s second term will bring further development to the constituency.
