The withdrawal from the race leaves NDC delegates with a pool of 98 candidates from which they will choose 23 executive members.

Announcing the results of the Vetting Committee of the party, the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, said no reasons were given by the candidates for the withdrawal.

He said: “After going through the exercise, we were asked to assess whether they think they are ready to take the verdict or they will withdraw, and in all the cases they withdrew. So that sends a signal to me that they are honest and they agreed that they did not meet the criteria.”

“In the national organiser position, there was one Member of Parliament who had filed and he subsequently withdrew. He is Mr Emmanuel Didieye, MP for Afram Plains North. For the  vice chair position we have Rev. Prof. Lawson and Alhaji Mohammed Abass; the report indicates that they had withdrawn. Mr Okpolu Ahamadji an aspiring youth orgsniser, decided to withdraw. for the deputy youth organiser position we have Fuseini Seidu Iddrisu - he also decided to withdraw. For the deputy women’s organiser category we have Agnes Adomah who also decided to withdraw,” said the party’s General Secretary.

The party will go to the polls on December 20 in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
