He explained that if there was no peace in the country its citizens, especially mothers and children, suffered most.

The Mankralo, who was speaking in an interview in Accra, charged the youth not to indulge in any social vices associated with the election, saying that no elder would go to the aid of any youth who fell foul of the law.

He charged the youth not to exchange their votes for monetary gains during the election.

“You should be neutral during the election, although you belong to a political party of your choice,” he advised.

Separate interviews

In another interview, the Abrempong Chief of Banda, Kwansiafamu Oseadeyo Barimah Kofi Anim Anyan Hanteli, also said when there was no peace, it was  the youth who  would bear the brunt of the hardships most.

He added that the youth could not rest if there should be war and instead of development they would be engaged in fighting.

The Banda chief, therefore, advised them to be disciplined and have a good relationship with their neighbours.

Concerning chiefs taking part in politics, he stated that when traditional rulers engaged in partisan politics, people tended to undermine their authority.
